In
medical terms, grey matter is a type of neural tissue which is found in
the brain and spinal cord. Simply, the purpose of gray matter is to pass along
sensory input, gathering information from the sensory organs and other
gray matter cells and ensuring that it gets where it needs to go. I’m not in the medical field, nor am I an authority
on the topic of grey matter, I basically am using the term “grey matter”
to describe this body of work whereby shades of grey along with the use of color dance on my canvas as it stimulates the mind to think.
For this project I have decided to work on many different surfaces such as, exposed RC photo paper, board, papers, canvas and wood. I continue to use my main mediums of acrylics and oil pastel and on occasion I add a little bit of this-n-that
thrown in for interest. Grey Matter continues to be a work in progress, one that may never know an end and one that generally leads me to an unknown place as I allow each piece to take on its own identity.
